A newer, more effective and now FDA Approved form of TMS, Theta Burst Stimulation mimics the natural endogenous “theta rhythms” of the human brain; theta being the frequency that our brains use when learning new things or adjusting to new environments. This makes TBS therapy presumably superior to previous forms of TMS in treating Major Depressive Disorder or MDD.
What is TMS?
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation or TMS therapy is an FDA Approved, non-drug treatment for people suffering from symptoms of major depression and now also for obsessive-compulsive disorder or OCD. It uses magnetic pulses to stimulate nerve cells in parts of your brain that are involved in mood control and depression. See how it works.
What can I expect?
TMS is an outpatient, non-invasive treatment that doesn’t require surgery or implantation of electrodes. There is no recovery time, so after your TMS treatment, you can immediately go home and get back to your normal activities.
Is TMS for me?
If you are still suffering from major depression or OCD after trying numerous medications or talk therapy, TMS can be an alternative solution.
What is Depression?
Clinical depression or major depressive disorder (MDD) is different from just being sad, upset or having “the blues.” A patient is diagnosed with MDD if, for over two weeks at least, he/she experiences symptoms severe enough to impair normal functioning and the ability to engage in regular activities in daily life, including the loss of interest and pleasure in activities that were previously gratifying. The condition can even lead to self-harm and suicide.
Antidepressants in combination with psychotherapy is the common method of treatment for MDD. However, antidepressants may come with side effects such as insomnia, fatigue, weight gain, and sexual dysfunction.

“I triumphed over depression.” — Jessica Lunetta, Ventura, CA
First to bring the Wonder of TBS to Ventura
Ventura’s trusted hometown clinic pioneered in offering the 3-minute miracle that’s Theta-burst Stimulation or TBS, the first and the only one to make the new life-changing treatment available in all of Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties.
Today, we are happy say that TBS is FDA Approved.
TMS OK’d for OCD
TMS, proven effective in the treatment of major depression, is now FDA Approved* for the adjunct treatment of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.
OCD is a condition that is characterized by intrusive, recurrent, and unwanted thoughts or impulses that cause severe anxiety, distress, and functional impairment. Compulsions are then repetitive actions driven by the obsessions in an effort to neutralize the anxieties.
Majority of people suffering from OCD are aware that their obsessions are irrational, yet they feel helpless. Plus, there is also the tendency in OCD to develop depression, worsening the suffering and complicating treatment. A disabling disorder that makes its sufferers feel ashamed, OCD can affect personal, professional, and social life if left untreated.
Psychotherapy and medications are the two main options for treating OCD. Yet, some OCD patients experience limited results from these and need more therapeutic options. A drug-free, non-invasive, out-patient procedure with no systemic side effects, TMS uses magnetic pulses to stimulate specific regions in the brain known to be particularly affected by OCD.
*Please note that FDA approval may not necessarily mean your insurance plan will cover TMS for OCD. For more information please call or message us!
